A Moisture Separator is the first line of defence in any compressed-air treatment system. Installed directly at the compressor outlet or after the after-cooler, it removes bulk condensate — liquid water, water-oil emulsions and large droplets — before they reach downstream equipment like air dryers, filters, regulators and pneumatic tools.

Our cyclonic-design separators spin the incoming air at high velocity, forcing liquid droplets outward by centrifugal action and collecting them in a sump at the bottom. Removal efficiency exceeds 99% for bulk water with a pressure drop of less than 0.1 bar — protecting your entire compressed-air network with virtually no energy penalty.

Working Principle

Wet Air Enters

Hot, wet compressed air from the compressor or after-cooler enters the separator at high velocity through a tangential inlet port.

Cyclonic Spin

The tangential entry forces air into a tight spinning vortex inside the cylindrical housing. Centrifugal force — many times that of gravity — flings liquid droplets outward to the inner wall.

Droplets Coalesce & Fall

Water droplets and oil aerosols hit the inner wall, coalesce into larger drops and drain down by gravity into the sump bowl at the base of the separator.

Dry Air Exits

The now-dehydrated air rises through the central vortex-finder tube and exits cleanly from the top outlet — ready for the next treatment stage (dryer or filter).

Automatic Condensate Drain

Accumulated condensate in the sump is discharged automatically via an integrated float or electronic auto-drain valve — zero manual intervention, no production stoppages.

Cyclonic separation removes more than 99% of liquid water and oil-water emulsions from the compressed-air stream in a single pass — far more efficient than simple knock-out pots.

Near-Zero Pressure Drop (<0.1 bar)

Pure mechanical separation with no filter element means essentially no restriction to airflow. Your compressor delivers every bar of pressure to your tools and machines.

No Consumable Elements

Unlike coalescing filters, the moisture separator has no replaceable cartridge. Once installed, maintenance is limited to periodic inspection of the drain valve — very low lifetime cost.

Auto-Drain Valve Compatible

Bottom-threaded drain port accepts any standard float-type or electronic timer-based auto-drain valve. Condensate is expelled automatically — no manual purging, no air wastage.

Stainless Steel & Aluminium Variants

Available in powder-coated carbon steel for standard service or 304/316 stainless steel for corrosive environments, food-grade and pharmaceutical applications requiring full hygienic contact surfaces.

Wide Capacity Range: 10 – 5,000 CFM

Standard sizes from ½” BSP to DN150 flanged connections covering small workshop compressors (10 CFM) all the way to central utility headers (5,000 CFM) in large plants.

Installation Guide

WHERE TO INSTALL A
moisture separator.

Position the moisture separator immediately after the compressor discharge or after-cooler, before any air dryer or filter. This single step prevents the bulk of condensate — which would otherwise flood the dryer, blind filter elements and corrode pipework — from entering downstream equipment.

For best results, install it in a vertical or horizontal orientation as specified, allow a short pipe to cool the air before entry, and pair it with an auto-drain valve to ensure continuous hands-free condensate removal around the clock.
